Home Section page B6 Call us, helplines urge troubled teens
1a) List two reasons why teens are reluctant to call helplines despite the promise of anonymity and professional help. - They would not confide in strangers and think it's wimpy to call.
b) According to Ms Lily Chu, how does Touch Leadership and Mentoring prefer to help troubled teens? -They prefer to help teens through a more direct and effective means such as educational workshops in school, face-to-face counselling and home visits.
2) Have you confided in your friends or family members about the problems you face in school life? Why or why not? - Yes. Sharing more problems with them help me to lighten my burden and it makes me feel more cheerful as they always have a way out to joke around and console me. They would also tell me not to bother about it so much as they do not want something to affect my life. It also helps me to understand one another better because they often share their stories about facing problems in school life.
Have you been betrayed by your friends before? If yes, how? (You may change the names of the people involved for privacy) -No. Me and my friends get along quite well and we often share stories about life with one another. On the other hand, we also crack up jokes once in a while and have a good laugh about it and to a certain extent we might get a little rough with one another, but we do not have any ill intentions about it. Thus i feel that we have a good bond with one another and i doubt i will ever be betrayed by my friends.

Reflection 15 Home Section page B3 PM's 4 BASIC RULES FOR RELIGIOUS HARMONY
1a)What are the 4 rules for religious harmony? -The 4 rules are excersising tolerant and restraint in all groups, keeping religion separate from politics, government remaining secular and mantaining the common spaces that all singaporean share.
b)In your opinion, how can we maintain a common space in schools? - We can keep a small distance away from one another when we are eating our meals or the tables in school can be designed in such a way that seats are a little far apart from one another.
2)Do you respect other religions? Why or why not? What do you think of children who stay away from their parents' funerals because they believe the traditional rites are against their new religion? -Yes. Respecting other religion can help us to better understand their culture. On top of that, people from other religion will also respect one if one give them his respect, thus one can make more friends in such a way. Children who does that are unfilial. Children should also be there for their parents' funeral even if they are in a different religion than their parents. Children should not think that traditional rites are against their new religion and should pay their parents their last respect before the body is cremated.

Reflections 14 Home Section page 1 Elderly Falling Prey to 'Volunteer' Ruse (trick)
1a)What is the modus operandi (method of operating) of the con artists? - They pose as volunteers from welfare organisations on a project to spruce up the homes of the senior citizens and once they gain access to their homes, they would help themselves mostly to their unsuspecting victims' cash.
b)What are the Lion Befrienders planning to do to ensure the old folks do not get conned again? -They are sending out volunteers to lonely senior citizens, has also alerted those under its charge about those con artist.
2)Do you like doing social work? Why or why not? -Yes.If I could get to do social work, I would definitely want a try in it. I've seen many voluntarily work on television and that is why I felt like giving a try to do social working. As the saying goes ''its better to give than to take'' is one common proverb that we are hearing even in the streets. I feel that this proverb motivates me to help those who are less fortunate than me. Even though doing social work can be a tiring experience but nevertheless, the smiles in the end brings much joy than seeing the trouble of the less fortunate and the elderly.

Reflections 13 In Section page 3 A Deadly Business
1a) What are the 2 worrying trends about drug trafficking mentioned in the article? -The two worrying trends are more teenagers were getting caught up in drug trafficking and more Singaporeans were being arrested for drug crimes overseas.
b) Why are Singaporeans increasingly being used as "drug mules"? - Singaporeans do not need a visa for many places and they are also less likely to be checked because of Singapore's reputation for being tough on drugs.
2) What will you do if you find out that one of your friends is selling drugs? How will you react if someone tries to sell you drugs? -I will warn him about the dangers of drug trafficking and consequences of it and would also advise them that they are putting their future prospect on the line if they are caught selling drugs. Though I cannot guarantee that they might listen to my advices, but be it verbally or physically, I will do what I can to help them quit drug trafficking. The first reaction I would receive is I would be astonished by it. I would then try to walk away from them. For persistent drug seller, I would run away from them if they decide to follow me. I believe my actions will definitely not get me in trouble with the law.

Reflections 12(term 3)
Home Section Page 1 Hawkers fall prey to brazen break-ins.
1a) Why is it easy for burglers to break into stalls at the two markets in the Kallang area? -Their stall unit was open at the top, leaving them exposed to thieves.Their stalls are near the open ceiling, in which the thieves got in through them.
b) What is the Geylang East Central Merchants' Association going to do about the break-ins? -They will be in touch with the relevant authorities and town councils to look into improving security, possibly by modifying stall layout and design.
2. What do you think should be done to tighten the security of the markets? What do you think of the burglars who brazenly break into the stalls? -They should have CCTV(closed circuit-television) installed at various concealing points to capture the process or pictures of any break-in. Policemen can also be assigned to do night patrol around those hawker centres to deter would-be burgler. I feel that the burglars are qite bold to break in the stall with the presence of their foot and hand prints on the walls. But nevertheless, they will still be caught by the law because they are blatant enough to leave the criminal evidence at the scene. Lastly, their short moment of foolishness caused them to face a period of commitment in jail.

Reflection 1(Sem 2, Term 3)
In Section Page 8 3 Cheers for the Team
(a) Why is cheerleading an expensive sport?
- Cheerleading requires one to spent at least 200 dollars on a single performance, 70 to 80 dollars per uniform and this sport has a high risk of injuries which is highly encouraged by signing up for a medical insurance..
(b) What makes cheerleading such a tough sport? -It requires hours of harsh practices several times a week.It also require one to put in blood, sweat and tears to perfect a high flip.Tough stunts such as tumbling and lifting are also part of the routine for cheerleading. On top of that, it also requires teamwork to get stunts done and not and easy and ''just for fun'' task. Much training has to be spent on cheerleading for it's moves to be executed gracefully. Comments from a cheerleading team stated that this sport is addictive and also a team sport and they emphasize much on resilience, perseverance and passion.
What is your opinion of cheerleaders? If given a chance, would you join cheerleading? Why/ why not? - They have to lead the team on cheerleading and make sure that every moves co-ordinate with one another. No, I don't have that amount of time to invest in cheerleading.

Reflections 10
Minister questions plans to separate conjoined twins (Part A – Prime – Page A1 & A6)
1) What are some of the problems involved in separating a conjoined twin? - Such problems are brain damage , chest infection , problems with spinal cord and excess blood lost.
2) If you were a part of a conjoined twin, would you rather stay together with your twin for the rest of your life or would you risk both your lives to go for an operation? Why?
- I would risk our lives for an operation. It is better for the both of us to be freed rather then to be glued together for the rest of our lives. There might be risks of us suffering from illness or even death , but if we were to be glued , life would'nt make any difference from death. Life would be as gloomy as times goes by because we cannot do things that we like and we exert alot of pressure and trouble onto our loved ones. They have to take good care of us as we can't possibly move about on our own. As long as we are still glued together, they will not be able to have a peace of mind. Thus , undergoing operation is the prime solution to end this trouble and misery within ourselves and others.
